I'm Magali. I was born in Mumbai (Bombay back then!) but my roots are in Goa. I've existed on the internet since my teens - I'm now in my late twenties. I enjoy beauty, dressing up, cooking, tea (particularly masala chai), urban gardening & the company of my four cats. This channel is an extension of those things. It feels very strange to post on my channel today. As I type this, India is going through a very deadly second wave. If you're working from home & your loved ones are healthy, it is an immense privilege right now. Our healthcare infrastructure has broken down, & instagram + twitter is full of pleas for help. Nobody is doing ok right now mentally - I thought of taking a break but ultimately today's video is about something that brought me a lot of comfort while staying at home. Houseplants have been a positive mood booster for me, which is why I thought it's the best thing to talk about today as well.
If you are in India, please take this second wave VERY seriously. You can't overdo precautions right now. Stay home as much as you can, double mask if you need to step out. We'll get through this.

Today's video is the first of hopefully many videos on houseplants. I've always wanted to have some in my space but I had a bad history of killing many succulents (I realised much later that succulents are meant for cooler, dry weather - the opposite of Mumbai!) Last year's lockdown finally gave me the space to do research & try again, which has been amazing for me.
The plants in today's video are tropical plants from around the globe that are tough & resilient. So even if you're an absolute beginner or have killed plants in the past, these are the best one to start out with. As long as they have well draining soil, some light & are watered based on their needs, they will flourish & grow well.
