BIOTECH
Biotechnology is the use of biological processes for creating socially useful, marketable products. It includes cloning, customized body parts, and made-to-body parts. Agriculture is also a part of biotech. Biotech is research-based science that is spread in many areas like improving health, prolonging human life, disease control & agriculture.
Specialization field in biotech
Specialization is something that has been around for a long time and is likely to continue to play a big role in the biotech industry. This is because specialization allows for more efficient use of resources, as well as the development of new products faster. In this article, we will take a look at what specialization means for biotech and why it is important.
biochemistry
Biochemists specialize in the study of chemical reactions and the properties of molecules. They need to know about atoms, molecules, radicals, orbitals, energy levels, and bonding. Biochemists also study genetics and biochemistry to understand how genes function and how diseases develop.
genetics
-Specialization field in biotech: Genetics
Genetics is the study of heredity and variation in living organisms, including humans. It covers a wide range of topics from the molecular basis of inheritance to gene expression and the genetic interactions between genes. Genetics is essential for understanding the causes of inherited diseases and for developing new treatments for them.
genetic engineering
Using genetic engineering, you can target a specific gene to change the trait it causes. Scientists have been able to edit genes for more than 50 years but recently have been able to make many changes at the same time. CRISPR-Cas9 is one such technology, which allows you to target those genes in specific sections of DNA and modify them. This can be used to create new crops or modify existing ones, use different substances or resist pests.
bioinformatics
Bioinformatics is the application of computer science and biology to manage and analyze biological data. Bioinformatics has become an essential tool in the field of genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, and metabolomics.
classification of biotechnology
Classification is one of the most important activities in biotechnology. It is used to group organisms according to general properties and relationships, so that research can be effectively directed. In this article, we will discuss different classification schemes and their advantages and disadvantages.
red biotechnology
Red Biotechnology is used in both the pharmaceutical industry (to help heal the body and other medical purposes) and in medicine, which helps human beings live better lives.
Green biotechnology
Green biotechnology is the use of plants and other photosynthetic organisms to create industrially useful products. Biotechnology can be used in sectors such as detergents, paper, biofuels, textiles, and pharmaceuticals.
White biotechnology
White Biotechnology is a branch of biotechnology. It uses enzymes and living cells to produce products that are less harmful to the environment during production.
Qualities of biotech
1. Commitment & Drive
Continuous working in the library and on the computer sometimes gets boring and you don't want to be there. In the field of biotech, we don't get immediate results. if you really want to work in biotechnology you need to be patient. And this field wants commitment.
2. Genuine interest in Science
For this field, you have a lot of interest in this field. This includes reading science purely for joy & to have a natural curiosity.
3. Analytical Mind:
In this field, you have an analytical, logical & organized mindset.
Job Prospects
As you all know, India is the second largest food market in the world. India has a lot of prospects in the field of biotechnology, especially in the field of Agri biotech products. India has a lot of pharma companies that are searching for cheap and relevant options for the drug discovery process. India is ranked number 12 in biotech destinations. And 2nd in Asia after China. India has 400 biotech companies with 25000 scientists. India's biotech growth YOY is 30% and by 2025, the Biotech market in India is expected to be 100 Billion $.
Salary
If we talk about salary, after post graduation you will get 3 lakh but within 10 years it will be converted into 20 to 30 lakhs. People who are at the Ph.D. level and are associated with government labs have salaries of 2 lakhs per month. If you pursue MBA after biotech your starting package will be 10 to 15 lakhs and your peak salary will be 1 cr.
