Jack Lusk experienced kidney failure as a result of diabetes. Once his kidney efficiency hit 15%, he was put on dialysis. Jack first came to Barnes-Jewish Hospital 5 years ago and was put onto the waiting list for a kidney transplant.

He notes that there are a lot of great hospitals, but Barnes-Jewish has a terrific reputation nationally, and is considered the benchmark in the Midwest.

Jack considers his kidney a gift. There were nurses that also helped his wife through the transplant process. He feels that, with Barnes-Jewish Hospital's help, he has his life back.
