Welcome, everyone. In this video, you will learn how to make a Clipper Card account and how to use a Clipper Card.

The Clipper Card is a reloadable, contactless smart card used for electronic transit fare payment in the San Francisco Bay area. This makes it super easy to pay when using public transit systems like buses and ferries.

Getting a clipper card is easiest on the computer. To start the process, go to cluippercard.com and scroll down to the section that says “buy a card online”. Once you are at that stage, you should see a blue word above the email and password boxes that says register. Enter your email and desired password, and desired security question and its answer. After you've created your account, you should be redirected to a page that asks how much money you would like to put on your card. THis decision should be based on how much you plan to use your card. Once you have selected how much money you would like to add to your card, select which agency you live closest to, then click continue, checkout, and go pick up your brand new clipper card.

To use your clipper card, once you get on public transit, tap your card against the Clipper Card symbol. This will automatically pay the transit service and you can be on your way.
