In 2000, Evelia Coyotzi left Tlaxcala, Mexico, and her two-year-old son, to find a job in New York. She he was working at a McDonald’s near the World Trade Center in 2001, but soon after 9/11 she began selling from a shopping cart in Queens, Brooklyn. For 20 years she would arrive every day at 4:30 a.m. to sell to the early commuters of NY. Finally, she opened her first store and in this video you get an exclusive day in the life of Evelia making a few of her iconic tamales.
