What are the best programming apps for iPad?

Anything that lets you convert Objective C apps to Swift without rewriting them.

Objective C can be used with Swift with some wrappers or some sort.

It isn’t as plug and play as Apple says it is.

Then if I learn anything, it is Swift.

Swift would be the best programming language to learn for iPad programming.

So what are the best programming apps for developing apps for the iPad, whether I use Swift or Objective C or something else?

ScriptKit is a drag and drop programming interface, so you can create apps using it without having to program.

You lose a lot of respect if you say you create apps without coding, and you lose a lot of the advanced functionality that the paying users want beyond the latest rival to Candy Crush.

Then Hopscotch for creating games and animations isn’t what you’re looking for.

Pythonista is a great tool for learning Python.

I’m more looking for a tool for turning JavaScript or Python into an app for the App Store.

Codea is one of the tools for building games and apps that lets you export work to Xcode to create the actual app.

Codea has poor ratings on the App Store.

For text editing, you can use Textastic or Ultraedit.

I need something that has the integrated development environment, bug checking, grammar checking and so forth.

Try Code to Go. You can code even on the iPad or iPhone, save code to Drop Box and use nearly any language like LISP and Forth.

I know nerds get points for putting out a LISP coded app on the App Store, but I’m thinking more Swift or JavaScript.

CoffeeScript is a shorthand for JavaScript and a long road to debug in JavaScript if you make any mistakes. It is better to use a tool for coding in JavaScript.

Nearly everything in JavaScript development beyond coding for kids does.

That’s a little past my skillset when I’m still barely past the use an app to learn the coding language to create an app.
