This activity develops the child’s visual and muscular discrimination of length moreover prepares them for number rods.
YOU WILL NEED:
• Ten rods, red in colour, differing in one respect - length from 10 cm to 1 m.

TIPS & TRICKS

You can use this material to give the child superlative language such as long, longer, longest/ short, shorter, shortest.
The child can play the one just… game with the rods ( this is when you ask them to bring the one just shorter or longer than a specific rod to you)
Another game with this activity can be building at a distance: having two mats at a distance and the child places the rods mixed up on one mat an carries them one by one to the other to build.
