Discovering a Hidden Shell Grotto

Am I in an ancient Egyptian tomb or and in in a Greek catacomb?

No....... I'm in a hidden grotto under a garden of a private house in Margate, Kent. It's called the Shell Grotto and it was first discovered in 1835 by a young girl and he brother while playing on the land at the back of the private house. No one knows who or when it was built or indeed why. There are an estimated 4.6 million shelves embedded into its walls.

Truly an amazing place !
