Boxing Pivots and Side Steps - Which to Use and When

Go Here to Download Your Book - https://www.myboxingcoach.com - Boxing pivots and side steps (and angled side step) are two very effective boxing footwork skills. But in what situations should you use them? In this video you will gain a deeper understanding of each skill and when and how to use it.

This video is a follow up to the guided drills with the pivot (   • Master the Pivot - The Boxing Drills ...  ) and the guided drills on the side step (   • Build That Super-Effective Boxing Sty...  ).

For the side step/angled side step:

1. It is used mostly in an offensive setting
2. Against a static opponent you can 'fix and fire'
3. You can use shots before and after, but not really during
4. It is most effective at long range
5. When at close range it is effective against an opponent with an opposing boxing stance (for example southpaw vs orthodox)

For the pivot:

1. Is effective at all ranges
2. Can be used effectively in both offensive and defensive settings
3. Shots can be used before, during and after
4. It is supremely effective in defensive scenarios.

So, both of these boxing skills are really high quality. In terms of versatility, the pivot wins out for me.

Cheers

Fran
