Pocket Door and Drywall Anchor Fix

Описание к видео Pocket Door and Drywall Anchor Fix

Mounting a towel bar or toilet paper roll holder to drywall is a fairly simple process. But, what if the wall has a pocket door behind it? In my case I had a maximum of about 1 inch of clearance between the door and the inside of the drywall. This significantly limits the choices for drywall anchor solutions. I searched the Internet and was unable to find a viable solution.

One anchor solution was promising, but since my hardware has mounting holes on the left and right side of the bracket, that anchor solution would end up being visible post installation. If the hardware was mounted with a center hole, I could have used it.

So, after some thought, I decided to use a toggle bolt, but I had to modify it so that I could still allow the wing to "open" when inserted in the wall, but prevent the screw that threads into the toggle from protruding into the pocket door.

I ended up cutting off the screw head of the toggle bolt and using a 3/16" nut to create the tension to hold the hardware in place. The toilet paper roll holder assembly, thankfully, hides the excess screw on the inside of the housing.

Please let me know if you have found any commercially available solutions that are easier than this one.

Thanks again for watching!
