Fender Custom Masterbuilt Andy Hicks Stratocaster White Blonde played by Berend Rombouts | Demo

This Strat couldn't exist without Leo's initial vision, but it's arguably a much better crafted instrument than the ones from that era. Andy's design is loosely based on a '56 model, but is way more focused on looks and tone than it is with being period-correct. The off-center 2-piece Ash body has a fantastic looking grain that can be seen through the lightly weather checked and thin 'Dirty White Blonde' finish. The dark 1-piece, pop-grain quarter sawn Maple neck has been roasted to give it a sweet, caramel colour and the finish also has an ever so slight weather checking.

Calibrated for balance and volume, the Custom Shop Dual-Mag single-coil Strat pickups are a unique design, based around a proprietary blend of magnet types. Alnico 2 magnets temper the treble strings while alnico 5 magnets give a piano-like punch to the bass strings. This makes the tone not quintessentially Strat-like, but makes for a much more versatile machine that can be coloured much smoother by your amp and/or pedals. All the pickups are wrapped with copper tape and grounded.
