KIDS ACTIVITIES — FAMILY

Family fun is the name of the game in the Indiana Dunes area. From splashing and playing at any one of our nine beach access points within the Indiana Dunes State Park and Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore to grabbing a frosty mug of root beer at The Port Drive-In, you’re sure to have an unforgettable adventure.

Hike up the 552 vertical feet of the 3 Dune Challenge, or if the rain clouds roll in, take in a blockbuster movie on an eight-story-high screen at the Portage 16 IMAX. Afterward, grab a bite to eat at Quaker Steak & Lube, where full-size cars and motorcycles decorate the ceiling.

Or head to Valparaiso, home to Zao Island Amusement Center and Inman’s Bowling and Recreation. Inman’s features go-carts, mini-golf, and bowling while Zao Island is home to mini-golf, go-carts, laser tag, batting cages, a baby alligator feeding area, and an on-site pizzeria.

Kids will love the ice cream from the nearby Valpo Velvet or the amazing railway garden at the Gabis Arboretum, with its waterfalls, elaborate bridges, and impressive 14-foot change in elevation. There’s even live bison at the Broken Wagon Bison Farm and old fashioned drive-in theatre at the 49er Drive-In.
