किडनी फेलियर से सांस फूलने की समस्या | Why Kidney Failure Affects Your Breathing | Kidney Treatment
Many kidney patients experience anemia, swelling, and shortness of breath but are often unaware of what’s really causing these symptoms. When the kidneys become weak, they lose their ability to manage fluids and support red blood cell production. If left unaddressed, these issues can lead to serious health problems. In this video, Dr. Puru Dhawan explains the actual causes behind these symptoms and shares practical ways to manage them effectively.
𝟭. 𝗔𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘆
Anemia is very common in kidney patients because damaged kidneys stop producing enough erythropoietin, a hormone needed to create red blood cells. This leads to a drop in hemoglobin levels, sometimes as low as 5 or 6. With fewer red blood cells, less oxygen reaches the body, making the lungs work harder. As a result, patients feel breathless, tired, and weak, even with minimal activity.
𝟮. 𝗦𝘄𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴
Swelling in the legs and feet is a common sign in kidney disease, but many don’t realize it can also impact the lungs. When the body holds on to extra fluid, and the person lies down, this fluid shifts upward and may reach the lungs. Just 5–10 minutes of lying down can lead to shortness of breath and disturbed sleep, leaving the person feeling drained throughout the day.
𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗦𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗞𝗶𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲
Swelling, or edema, occurs when protein and albumin levels in the blood drop too low. When protein is lacking, blood becomes thin, and fluid starts leaking into surrounding tissues, causing puffiness in the legs, feet, and even lungs. To manage this, it’s important to check total protein and albumin levels regularly through tests like KFT and LFT. Keeping these levels balanced can help reduce swelling, ease breathing problems, and improve daily comfort and health.
