My name is Xanthe Wyse. Officially diagnosed with bipolar 1 disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), social anxiety disorder.

Some clinicians will likely say I am 'manic with mixed features' in this video with my irritability and lack of a filter.

[2023 update: Another psychiatrist assessed well in my favour. My fight with ACC isn't over.

Yet another psychiatrist went through my medical records and said I have clinically significant autism spectrum features, which fit an older diagnosis of pervasive developmental disorder, PDD-NOS, which is still a current diagnosis in New Zealand.]

I am justifiably pissed off with the dismissal by the ACC psychiatrist who made lots of errors in report and halved my assessment to below the threshold, blaming bipolar. I already read several bad reviews about this psychologist and was awaiting the outcome, thinking he must either be really good at his job, or really bad. I went through with a highlighter - so many errors and falsehoods.

It is rare for me to express the emotion of anger as it's one of my biggest triggers and it's been a process to express it. I have dealt with a lot of incompetent clinicians (mainly psychiatrists) over the last 2 decades.

My clinical psychologist who has been treating me weekly for PTSD for the past 2 years said that I have a genetic predisposition for bipolar but that's no guarantee I will get it. If I hadn't had the childhood trauma, I might not have developed it at all. Or at least not as severely.

The psychiatrist made several untrue statements, including that I do not accept the bipolar 1 diagnosis. The payout if over the threshold (which he originally determined me at but then halved it for bipolar), is measly, but I will appeal on principle. I did this to take on the system to face my fear of being dismissed. Which I was.
