Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay was born in 15 September 1876. Even on today Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay is arguably the most popular novelist in the Bengali language. Amongest of this many works - Devdas, Srikanto, Choritrohin, and Grihadaha, are notable. Majority of Sarat Chandra's works focuse the lifestyle, tragedy and struggle of the village people and the contemporary social practices that prevailed in Bengal. Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay died in 16 January 1938
