Ever spent hours debugging embedded code with nothing but Serial.print() statements?
I did too. So I built something different.

🎯The Problem
As an #embeddedsystems enthusiast, I kept hitting the same wall: you can't see what's happening inside your microcontroller.
Memory leaks? Stack overflows? Random crashes on 2KB SRAM boards? You're essentially flying blind, adding print statements and hoping for the best.
Professional tools exist, but they are not exactly student-friendly cost wise.

💡 The Solution: MCU Visualizer
A real-time memory and execution visualizer for #microcontrollers – open source and built for real hardware.
What it does:
✅ Live Flash/SRAM monitoring with usage percentages
✅ Animated chip architecture view showing data flow: Flash → CPU → SRAM
✅ Execution flow dashboard tracking function calls, timing, and stack depth
✅ Integrated serial monitor for structured packet analysis
✅ Cross-platform support: #Arduino (AVR), #ESP32/ 8266, #STM32, RP2040

🛠️ Technical Deep Dive
This wasn't just a UI project. I learned:
Embedded Systems:
1)ELF binary parsing (32-bit) for code/data/BSS section analysis
2)Flash vs SRAM memory accounting from symbol tables
3)Low-overhead runtime tracing on resource-constrained MCUs

Software Architecture:
1)C++ backend for ELF parsing, symbol analysis, and high-speed serial processing
2)PyQt6 frontend with multi-tab interface and real-time visualizations
3)Custom packet protocol for minimal MCU overhead

Hardware Integration:
1)Tested across #AVR, Xtensa, and #Cortex-M architectures
2)Works with any board that outputs 32-bit ELF and supports UART

🎓 What This Taught Me
Beyond the technical skills, I learned something crucial:
The right visualization turns hours of debugging into seconds of understanding.
When you can see your stack growing, your heap fragmenting, or your functions burning CPU cycles, bugs become obvious. This isn't just a tool—it's a new way to think about embedded development.
