Hello everyone, so if you have been following my videos I have been trying to find the right cone temp. that makes the glaze flow the way I like it. I started at cone 5. The glaze did not flow as much as I expected it too. So I tried cone 5 with a 5 minute hold. This had a better result because it flowed more but still not what I was looking for. I then did cone 5 with a 10 minute hold. This achieved a much better result. The glaze flowed better and the colors were vibrant. Dare I say it was still not exactly what I was looking for. Enter cone 6 this is what I was looking for. The glaze flowed very nicely but not so much that it flowed onto the shelf. The colors changed on some of the glazes at this temp. Seaweed PC-42 kind of washed out but Oatmeal PC-31came into its own producing a beautiful color. Ancient Copper PC-56 looked like copper foil, just beautiful. I tried a few new glazes such as Black Aventurine PC-65 and Cosmic Tea Dust PC-63. A word of advice if using Cosmic Tea Dust it has a lot of glitter mixed in. Keep a separate rag and brush for it as it gets everywhere.
I did have a couple of pots split at this temp. I am currently looking into what could have caused this.
Please like and subscribe it helps my channel grow. Thank you and as always have a great day.
