Dr.Santosh Nahar

Violinist
Born (1965) is a renowned family of traditional Musical the Mishra Gharana (Bhagalpur Gharana), Dr. Santosh Kumar Nahar, has established himself amongst the leading and promising Violin Players in Hindustani Classical Music. He was inducted in to Violin by his Guru-Father Late Prof. Prahlad Prasad Mishra, a renowned Musician and Vocalist and Ex-Director, Institute of Music, Patna University, Patna (Bihar). He got lessons from his uncles late Pt. Kedar Nath Mishra and Late Pt. Ram Naresh Mishra, Vocal Maestros of this tradition. Receiving guidance time to time from elder brother Pt. Sangeet Nahar and Dr. Sahitya Nahar. He got practical and technical training of Violin from Shri T. M. Patnaik.
A ‘Top’ Grade Violin Artist of All India Radio, Dr. Nahar is known for the unique blend of melody, fluency and purity in the presentation of Raag. His Systematic Bharat in Alaap Chari and both the Vilambit and Drut Gats, with different patterns of ornamental stylish components, fluent Taans and aesthetical feeling according to both Gayaki and Tantra-ang are unique qualities of his performances. Apart from these, presentation in clear note with varieties of Layakaries add feather to his recital with melodious impact.
Dr. Nahar has been awarded number of awards and has presented many impressive programmes in front of music lovers in India and abroad.
