This video demonstrates how to stitch a seam and topstitch with x 2 rows of topstitching. Topstitching can be used virtually anywhere on a garment in a contrast colour or a tonal/self colour. It adds detail and is therefore a design choice. Traditional on Jeans and workwear type garments, it is also quite common on trench coats and biker style garments. It can also be functional as it will hold seams down, where pressing is not possible. It's a good one to practise, for a beginner.
