In this first episode, prof. Oscar Camara and UPF BME Alumni and post-doctoral researcher Jordi Mill join us to discuss Biomedical Engineering, UPF’s approach to the degree, as well as their current research projects, their professional experiences and their opinions about the current job landscape.

Oscar Camara is a Full Professor in our Department and the coordinator of the Engineering School at the UPF. He obtained a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from UPC (1999), and a Master and Ph.D. in Image Processing in the National Higher School of Telecommunications of Paris (2000 and 2003, respectively). In July 2007, he joined UPF as "Ramón y Cajal" Fellow, where he is coordinating a research group called PhySense, that he founded in 2011. His research is focused on methodologies at the crossroad of computational imaging and computational modelling areas that can be effectively used in a clinical environment, including oncology, neurology and cardiology applications.

Jordi Mill Tena is a post-doctoral researcher at Oscar Camara’s Physense Group (UPF). He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in BME from UPF in 2018, and a Master and PhD in Computational Cardiology from UPF in 2022. His research involves the development of a surgical intervention platform to simulate minimally invasive catheter operations, currently focused on left atrial appendage occlusion.
