Sweetings Pond Seahorse Refuge - Eleuthera

Описание к видео Sweetings Pond Seahorse Refuge - Eleuthera

May 17, 2023 - Isolated from the ocean for over 6000 years, Sweetings Pond Seahorse Refuge on the island of Eleuthera is home to the densest population of seahorses in the world (and possibly some sort of sea monster). Yet, few people know about it, and much less have snorkeled there. But I did. It's amazing, and my underwater video doesn't do it justice. As noted in the video, apologies for the shaky and unlevel footage at times. The park prohibits the use of swim fins, as it's very shallow and fins can be very destructive to the loose bottom habitat. Consequently it's difficult to maneuver and remain stable while filming.

Hopefully this will be a Bahamas National Trust Park in the future, or maybe even a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hopefully you get to snorkel here too one day. It's an amazing place.
