Nicole was the one who got into the garden by temporally killing herself, with the help of Jeremy, after 18 months, 3 weeks and 4 days, which she had spent with Wynonna, while Doc was still in the garden. Waverly chose to fulfill her duty and Nicole returned to Earth.
No one in the world would understand the lost of Waverly beside Nicole and Wynonna, so they help each other to mend, yet the lost was insufferable that things ended tragically. In inevitable.

It's one of my all time favorite Wynonna Earp fanfics. Heartbreakingly beautiful. Amazing writing. It was written before season 4 as a speculative fic in a direction that Emily and the cast won't go. The writing was so in character that I could totally see it happened in Wynonna Earp universe as the worse had come...

I couldn't follow their plot 100% but I tried to capture the essence as close as possible. I had difficulty in showing Waverly was happily ascended because Nicole would never give up if Waves was not happy in the garden, but for the sake of lake of footages (lame excuse I know haha), let's go with what I have and pretend some sort of agreements were made between them...

One of the great things about catching a late ride to a show is that I got to read all these completed, high quality fan fictions and videos. I love seeing alternatives and different perspectives. How everyone interprets things differently. It's fun.
