The IL-8 in War Thunder is this Seasons Battle Pass reward for planes. It's basically a heavier IL-2 that can carry larger bombs making it a little easier for people who aren't as precise with bombing runs. The 500kg are fairly massive giving an excellent blast radius making them pretty forgiving.

The problem with this plane is that it's super heavy. This makes it compress in dives which isn't helped when you're carrying a large load of explosives and even when clean wing the flight performance isn't amazing.

The IL-8 can tank quite a few shots, the only problem is... you'll just become a complete brick and pretty useless once you've taken even the slightest bit of damage.

It's a decent CAS plane for those who missed the previous event planes so there's some good news there! :)
