Check whether your iPhone is in silent mode
The most common and most overlooked reason for this one is that your iPhone is in silent mode. There is a small button on the side of the iPhone which is used to put the iPhone in silent mode and that can usually switched to silent mode without our notice. So, make sure that it is not in silent mode.

The next thing is to check the volume of the ringers and alerts
1. Go to “Settings”.
2. Go to “Sound & Haptics”.
3. Make sure that the volume is to the end.
4 Also go to the Text tone and make sure that you have selected an alert tone and is not “None”.

Do not disturb mode
Next thing is to make sure that your iPhone is not in do not disturb mode other wise you won’t receive any sound.

1. Go to “Settings”.
2. Go to “Do not disturb”.
3. Make sure it is disabled.

Now if you are not receiving text alert sound for a particular contact only then what you do is:
1. Open the messages app.
2. Now check if there is a half moon icon in front of the contact.
3. If there is then do not disturb mode is activated only for that contact.
4. So, pull the message to the left and then tap on the bell icon.
5. This will disable hide alert for the single contact.
