Do you know how to properly communicate with the doctor who is treating you for your
Georgia on-the-job injury? (i.e. - Georgia Workers' Compensation case)

Your relationship with your workers’ compensation doctor will be much different than your interactions with your family doctor.


First and foremost, the workers’ compensation doctor is being paid by your employer’s insurance company. I'll say it again, so it sinks in: THE DOCTOR IS BEING PAID BY YOUR EMPLOYERS' INSURANCE COMPANY.


And, it is likely that this doctor gets most or all of his business from the INSURANCE COMPANY so his/her treatment decisions will tend to favor the insurance company’s interest.
Some may argue this is a conflict of interest and makes the doctor biased. I tend to agree.


If you were raised to believe that all doctors were highly trained professionals with YOUR interests at heart, you are in for a rude awakening!!!


So when you talk to the workers’ compensation doctor, dispense with the chit chat and get right down to business! Because in so many ways, it's all business with them. ($$$)


Second, as I discuss in this video, your conversations with the workers’ comp doctor need to be specific and factual. At every visit, remind the posted panel physician how you got hurt at work and about every affected body part.


When the doctor asks how you are doing, explain exactly what hurts, where it hurts and how you are limited. Avoid “not very much” or “getting a little better” or “not doing too much around the house.” Be specific.


After your visit, ask for a copy of the office notes or log into your patient portal to download those notes. We often see situations where our client’s recollections about what happened at an office visit are very different from what the doctor put in his notes.


All these corporate interests and insider games is the main reason why we never suggest tackling workers' compensation without a seasoned and experienced professional lawyer. There's too much on the line for you.


You deserve what is guaranteed to you by the law, and not one penny less. But you must have the right people on your side, and many times those people are NOT the employers' insurance company!
