The 2015 Lincoln Funeral Train visited the N.C. Transportation Museum August 29th and 30th. Civil War reenactors were on hand for ceremonies dedicated to this historical ride across the country, when Abraham Lincoln's earthly remains were transported from Washington, D.C. to Springfield, Illinois.

The journey saw stops along the way with mourners presenting wreaths, hearing the words of their town leaders, and remembering a fallen President.

A composite reenactment of those stops was held during the 2015 Lincoln Funeral Train, with the centerpiece of the ceremonies being the Lincoln Funeral car replica and Leviathan #63 locomotive.

See how this event played out on the grounds of the N.C. Transportation Museum, a 57 acre site that was once Southern Railways largest steam locomotive repair facility.
