Join us (Paul, June & Thomas) as we have a walk around Wakefield City Centre on the Night of the Christmas Lights switch on, we went a few hours after the switch on to avoid some of the crowds, but we still watched the STILL projection show on the Cathedral plus had a look around inside, we also looked at some of the Christmas stalls, watched a few other events that were happening too & also went to a couple of other locations in Wakefield to see some other lights!

STILL is a spectacular large scale architectural projection and lighting artwork presented across the exterior of Wakefield Cathedral. Produced by creative studio, NOVAK, in collaboration with musician and sound artist, Ed Carter and lighting designer, Phil Supple.

STILL is inspired by the idea and act of pilgrimage, both literally and metaphorically, and how the events of recent times have required many of us to take unplanned pilgrimages of personal discovery, albeit for most, from the confines of our homes. It explores how these ‘journeys’ take us to unexpected places, with both positive and negative experiences, but ultimately providing an enlightening outcome.

The artwork, which has been created specifically for Wakefield Cathedral, will envelop the entirety of the South and East faces of the tower and the whole South façade. Revealing a series of striking visions of colour and motion, accompanied by a newly created score co-written and performed by the Youth Choir of Wakefield Cathedral.

STILL transforms this iconic and cherished building as never before.
