'Velatura Painting Technique' Educational and Outreach - Masterpieces at MUZA

Описание к видео 'Velatura Painting Technique' Educational and Outreach - Masterpieces at MUZA

As part of the “Masterpieces at MUŻA” exhibition, our Education and Outreach department is presenting a series of educational clips all tied to interesting aspects of this exhibition such as techniques, art approaches, what it takes to create such an exhibition, etc.

During this clip we see our art educator, Franco Navarro, demonstrating the ‘Velatura painting technique’ which is an oil painting technique developed during the Renaissance period with improvements materializing up to the 19th century. One may either apply liquid paint on the palette and layer over grisaille, or apply a mixture of turpentines and/or oils directly on the grisaille and paint over with less liquified pigment. Watch this clip to learn the full technique!
