Before anyone strawmans this video because they are blinkered by the same false dichotomy of either ‘Individualism OR Authoritarianism’ which is at the root of the problem that I'm addressing, no! I’m not saying that art can never be individualist, created ‘For Its Own Sake’ or that the interpretation of the audience should be ignored. Instead, merely that a paranoid fear of any attempts to enrich society through a unified artistic vision and of being perceived as ‘Elitist’ or ‘Patronising,’ leading to a confusion of art with consumer products now prevents us from genuinely respecting and appreciating art and utilising its full potential as a tool for enriching individuals and improving society. That although everyone should still be free to and actually be encouraged to express themselves creatively and discuss the meaning of art, there is nothing wrong with, and in fact, there are tremendous benefits in an artistic movement with a unified vision working to uplift society through art.
