Indian tech companies take a fifth of all US H-1B visas

Indian tech companies have once again proven their dominance in the global job market by securing a significant share of the H-1B visas issued by the United States in 2024. These visas are crucial for hiring highly skilled foreign workers, especially in the technology sector. Leading the pack are Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), two giants of the Indian IT industry. From April to September 2024, Indian-origin companies received a remarkable 24,766 of the 130,000 H-1B visas issued. This represents nearly 20% of the total, highlighting the vital role Indian talent plays in the international tech industry. The H-1B visa program itself is a game-changer, allowing US companies to employ highly skilled professionals, particularly in specialized tech roles. The annual cap for these visas stands at 65,000 new applications, with an additional 20,000 reserved for individuals holding advanced degrees. Indian IT firms like Infosys, TCS, Wipro, and HCL consistently lead in leveraging this program to meet global demand for tech expertise.
