Budugala is located in kalthota valley surrounded by mountains ,Jungles, lakes and paddy fildes. The history of this place gose back to pre-christian era.There are two main sites of this place. Archaeological site and temple with caves. The ruins of an ancient buddhist monastery were found on slope of the mountain as well as the foot of it.
The temple area is surrounded by ruins,rocks,and drip ledges caves.Some of this caves were donated to maha sanga in the ancient past. Budugala monastery with ruins and stone caves spread in large area over 15 acres.
