Cinema 4d has houdini engine and you can use Houdini assets inside Cinema 4d. But this will not work for all cases especially for large scale simulations. So, you must export from Houdini to Cinema 4d

Why you may need this? Why do not render directly in Houdini? Because Cinema 4d has a lot of ready libraries for textures, Light Kits, Camera Kits, great deformers with Field falloffs. Also, when you import alembic files, you can make Time remap.
