The beauty of windward Oahu's Kaneohe Bay belies the trouble that lurks beneath its surface. Here, The Nature Conservancy is working with the State of Hawaiʻi to free the bay's reefs from the chokehold of invasive algae. Using innovative underwater vacuums called "Super Suckers," scientists are clearing the reefs of invasive algae, and then seeding the reefs with native sea urchins that feed on the algae and keep it from growing back.
