Scotland is pioneering. Don't believe us, check out Larissa Slaney's story.

Larissa is a life scientist and PhD student at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. Her innovative research could help secure the future of the cheetah and other endangered species.

The German-native first came to Scotland when she was 23 on a holiday and fell so in love with the country and the people that she decided almost immediately to move here.

Larissa’s project will determine whether the existing Footprint Identification Technique (FIT) can be adapted to find out if individual cheetahs are related. The technique could give wildlife conservationists a cheaper, quicker and non-invasive monitoring technique that will have applications across all endangered species.

Her research could also be extended to other species in the future, having a massive impact on the animal kingdom for generations to come.

Scotland is Pioneering. Scotland is Welcoming. Scotland is Now
