The Great Barrier Reef is in grave danger when a massive swarm of venomous Crown of Thorns Starfish begins devouring the coral at an alarming rate. Captain Barnacles, Kwazii, and Peso must race to the ocean floor to stop the destruction before the reef turns into a lifeless wasteland. Disaster strikes when Kwazii gets pinned by a massive current against a wall of thorns, forcing Tweak and Shellington to engineer a high-tech solution to save the crew and relocate the starfish safely. Kids will learn about Marine Biology (Coral Reef Ecosystems), Environmental Stewardship (Protecting our oceans), and Teamwork as the Octonauts work together to restore balance to the underwater world.

Story beats: Shellington discovers the reef is turning white and identifies the Crown of Thorns Starfish swarm. Captain Barnacles calls for an urgent rescue mission to relocate the starfish. The Octonauts launch the Gup-A and Gup-B into the heart of the thorny carpet. Kwazii gets trapped against a wall of venomous spines by a sudden current. Tweak and Shellington develop a Siren Pulse and Slick-Sheet to safely loosen the starfish. Captain Barnacles uses the pulse to release the starfish without harming them or the coral. The team successfully relocates the swarm to a deep-sea trench. The crew plants new coral fragments to help the reef heal and celebrates with a Creature Report.
