As Capitol police employs a detail to enforce security while construction gets underway, volunteers with The Eclipse Project continue to help those from the "Tent City" encampment move elsewhere.

CBS 21 Digital Executive Producer has been visiting the encampment for the past few months and was there from 4 a.m. on the day officers arrived to vacate the plot of land.

She has gotten to know a number of individuals and has been speaking with them to understand the dynamics of Harrisburg's biggest encampment, where over 100 people once resided.

Capitol police have been tasked with maintaining a presence after the deadline to clear out Harrisburg's biggest homeless encampment was enforced.

Construction activities for the I-83 expansion project are now underway and CBS 21 saw crews starting to clear things out of "Tent City" on Monday morning.

PennDOT said in a statement that a detail of 13 Capitol police officers was assigned to the area to "support enforcement activities." This will include performing road closures and "ensuring the property was cleared safely."
