Across North America and all the way to Europe, countries around the world are facing unprecedented wildfires, as record-breaking temperatures fuel some of the worst blazes in years.

In Italy, the small work of an arsonist has exploded into a roaring inferno because of hot and dry conditions. Meanwhile, the Dixie Fire in the United States has now turned into California's second largest wildfire in history, scorching nearly 250,000 hectares.

As Jackson Proskow explains, scientists warn the fires will only become more frequent, and show a glimpse of the future as global warming takes hold.
