🇫🇷 VERNISSAGE
Au commencement, il y avait l’une des deux portes de mon appartement à Belleville : la porte condamnée, au quatrième étage de mon immeuble. J’ai décidé de la décorer, d’en faire le support d’une peinture. Ainsi, une simple porte d’appartement est devenue une PORTE DE LA PERCEPTION.
Le clin d’œil est évident : j’évoque ici le poète, peintre, graveur et visionnaire anglais William Blake (1757-1827), et la phrase qui apparaît dans une œuvre en prose de 1793 intitulée "Le Mariage du Ciel et de l’Enfer" : « Si les portes de la perception étaient nettoyées, toute chose apparaîtrait à l’homme telle qu’elle est, infinie. » Tout artiste cherche à nettoyer ces portes et à les ouvrir aux autres.
Cette courte vidéo présente le processus de création de mon diptyque, son installation, et fait écho au modeste vernissage organisé en présence de mes amis et de mes voisins — avec, en fond, une poésie de William Blake.

🇬🇧 OPENING
In the beginning, there was one of the two doors of my apartment in Belleville: the sealed one, on the fourth floor of my building. I decided to decorate it, to turn it into the support for a painting. Thus, an ordinary apartment door became a DOOR OF PERCEPTION.
The reference is obvious: I am evoking here the English poet, painter, engraver, and visionary William Blake (1757–1827), and the sentence that appears in a prose work from 1793 entitled "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell": “If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite.” Every artist strives to cleanse these doors and open them to others.
This short video presents the creation process of my diptych, its installation, and echoes the modest opening organized in the presence of my friends and neighbors — with, in the background, a poem by William Blake, "Auguries of Innocence".
