There has been another dog attack in the same Atlanta neighborhood where a boy was killed by dogs last week.

Atlanta police report 48-year-old John Bullips was walking in the 200 block of Chappell Road Monday when police said he was attacked by two dogs believed by officers to be pit bulls.

Arriving officers said Bullips was unconscious. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. Atlanta City Councilwoman Keisha Lance Bottoms said Bullips was in critical condition as of early Tuesday evening.

Witness Gary Sims said the attack on Mr. Bullips was horrific.

“The dude was just screaming out. My heart was hurting. Dude just laying [sic] there screaming, ‘God help me please! Please, God help me, please!’ And the dog just steady at him,” the witness recalled.

One of the dogs was captured by animal control. Police said a neighborhood man shot the dog after witnessing the attack. The second dog was taken into custody and has been quarantined.

The attack comes a week after two dogs attacked two children as they walked to a bus stop less than a mile away. Logan Braatz, 6, died Jan. 17 and Syari Sanders, 5, was injured.

The owner of those dogs involved in the Jan 17 incident, Cameron Tucker, faces involuntary manslaughter and reckless conduct charges.
