One of the things Honda Pioneer 500 sxs owners wish for is for their P500 to be faster! It's geared to tow and haul just about anything, and it's not a bad trail machine either, but when you're driving down dirt roads with other side-by-sides, the top speed of the Honda P5 might grind your gears!

And speaking of grinding gears, that’s one of the things we did for this Honda Pioneer 500 performance upgrade! In this series of 4 videos, we’ll go from start to finish of the speed gear modification and show you each step of the gearing installation. Ideally, you’ll want to watch all 4 videos, so you can decide if this mod is for you before you start working on it. In the previous video, we finished up removing everything we needed to in order to remove the rear case section. In this video, we’ll show you how to shim your speed sensor, how to take the measurements needed to determine how to modify the new gear, and then making a few last checks and adjustments before beginning the process of putting everything back together. We’ll check the gear position sensor and apply silicon before putting the rear case cover back in place, and we’ll prep the rear output shaft before going through the installation of the starter, reverse cable, rear driveshaft, and rear differential bolts.
