2024 SCCA June Sprints @ Road America Spec Miata Race 2

Oh boy, lots to say about this one. I had a good qualifying session to put me 9th out of 70 cars. That said, this is a bumpdrafting track, and I'm not where I need to be with that skill. Cylinder 1 had 85% leakdown, and the others were 15-20...so my goal was to survive the weekend. Actually, I don't think I can really fault the motor too much here. I just had no one willing to work with me, and at times got shoved aside (notably 11:37 of the video) by packs of cars. In the end I had a good battle for a few laps. Last lap, I had a lazy/missed shift to 4th in the Carousel. I got bumped and loose through the Kink. I elected not to defend the position going into Canada Corner, thinking I could get a good run through Turn 14, and draft by at the line. Unfortunately, a yellow flag entering T14 confused me. I lifted early and unnecessarily, compromising my run up the hill to the line. Oh well. I survived, and some cars did not. I wish we could stop wrecking cars in this class.
