San Antonio Slayer is reforming for live appearances, and possibly more recordings! The original line up is back with Jason McMaster taking over the vocals. Original vocalist, Steve Cooper, passed away in 2006.

San Antonio Slayer formed in 1981 in Texas. Initially, they were called Slayer, but decided to add S.A. to avoid confusion with a Los Angeles band of the same name. They released Prepare to Die EP in 1983, and Go For the Throat album few years later. Both releases gained an international cult status over the years. The band eventually stopped in 1984.

Bassist, Donnie Van Stavern, tells how the reunion came about, and reflects on band's history.

The interview was conducted by Mark Kadzielawa, at Reggie's, in Chicago, Illinois, on September 29, 2024.
