I think that once I've put in the front-apron canvas I'll invite the client around for a trial fitting - because although I can 'get it right' from my notes, I can 'get it perfect' if I have him put the kilt on for a very few minutes.
this will allow me to precisely locate the buckles and straps, as well as check the 'drape' of the front apron and pleats.
...it also helps to give the client some idea about how much work is involved, and that he really IS getting his money's worth!
