Renée is currently in Jamaica and left Winter in the care of her sisters after they agreed to look after her until Renée returned. One sister was paid weekly to care for Winter and all food and supplies were provided entirely at Renée’s expense. Renée also allowed her sister to stay in her home during this time.

Over the two weeks, communication with Renee’s sisters became increasingly difficult. Without Renée’s knowledge, Winter was being left alone in the house, resulting in complaints from the agency due to barking. Receiving a warning. Urine covered the kitchen floor and part of the living room flooring was soiled. And none of the sisters cleaned the mess. 

One of Renée’s sisters invited a friend into Renée’s home without her permission, despite knowing Renée does not allow visitors without her acknowledgement. Keys were also given to sister Santara without Renée’s consent.

Renée was never informed of any of this. She only became aware of the situation when her neighbour returned home early from spending time with family after realising Winter had been left alone. The neighbour stepped in immediately to care for Winter and has been looking after her ever since.

Renée later discovered the condition of her home when the neighbour entered the property to drop off a parcel and showed her the damage.

At no point did Renée leave her home untidy, and at no point did she believe Winter would be neglected. She left believing her dog was in capable and loving hands. Once Renée became aware of the situation, she ensured Winter was placed in safe and responsible care with the neighbour. Winter is currently happy, well looked after, and even sleeping comfortably beside the neighbour’s cat at times.

This situation was deeply disrespectful on many levels and reflects an ongoing issue with communication. When Renée tries to reach her sisters, responses are often delayed or absent, yet when they need something, they are quick to make contact. She has done enough for her sisters and they must learn to stand on their own.
