(ORIGINAL) Albert Camus died on 4 January 1960 at the age of 46 in a car accident near Sens, in Le Grand Fossard in the small town of Villeblevin. In his coat pocket lay an unused train ticket. He had planned to travel by train with his wife and children, but at the last minute he accepted his publisher's proposal to travel with him. The driver of the Facel Vega car, Michel Gallimard, his publisher and close friend, also died in the accident.
Camus attracted many women who despite of his many liaisons were grief stricken after he died. The women were Francine Camus his wife, Blanche Balain his childhood love, Patricia Blake his mistress in the USA, Mi a Swede teenager he met at a cafe, his true love Maria Casares the popular movie and stage star with whom he met during the Nazi Occupation of France during the 1940s and Catherine Sellers a popular French stage actress.
