5. Various of meeting
6. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of the Arab States:
"A year where 17,000 Palestinian children and 11,000 women were killed. It is also a year of the inability of the international community in stopping the massacre but indeed the contribution of some western powers since the beginning of the aggression in providing a safety umbrella for the criminality to carry too far and a political cover for the killings to continue and expand from the steadfast Gaza to Southern Lebanon and the West Bank."

8. SOUNDBITE (English) Hakan Fidan, Turkish Foreign Minister:
"We cannot accept that Palestinian lives, Arab lives and Muslim lives matter less than others. The collective punishment of people of Gaza is now increasingly spreading to West Bank. Israel is taking advantage of current circumstances and exploiting divisions. Our ranks must be watertight: Be it Arab countries, be it Muslim countries, be it Palestinian factions, be it United Nations. Only then, we can stop this barbaric war machine. Turkey has imposed full trade restrictions on Israel. We will not restore trade until Israel accepts the cease-fire and enables unimpeded humanitarian access to Gaza."
9. Mid of Josep Borrell, EU High Representative heading to podium
10. SOUNDBITE (English) Josep Borrell, EU High Representative:
"Not only there is no pause in the war in Gaza. But what looms in the horizon is the extension of the conflict to the West Bank where radical members of the Israeli government, Netanyahu's government tried to make it impossible to create a future Palestinian state. A new front is being opened, with a clear objective to turn the West Bank into a new Gaza. In rising violence, delegitimizing the Palestinian Authority, stimulating provocations to react forcefully and not shying to say to the face of the world that the only way to reach a peaceful settlement is to annex the West Bank and Gaza. Yes, without action of the international community, the West Bank will become a new Gaza."
11. Wide of head of the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA Philippe Lazzarini
12. SOUNDBITE(English), Philippe Lazzarini, head of the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA:
"Two million people remain trapped here, almost the entire population is now concentrated in approximately 10% of this narrow strip of land. Masses of desperate people live amid rivers of sewage, mountains of garbage. Alongside rats, cockroaches, snakes and scorpion. Every single person is exhausted, sick and long past the limit of their endurance. It is utterly inhuman."

STORYLINE:
Turkey’s foreign minister called on Arab and Muslim nations on Tuesday to band together to work to end the war in Gaza.

It was the first time a Turkish official addressed the Arab League in more than a decade.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan was the first to attend the gathering of Arab states since President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended in 2011.

Turkey later fell out with many member countries.

“Our ranks must be watertight,” he added.
