Storyline:

"this story touched me in ways that remind me of how I never got to stay long enough in one place to make friends and how that isn't always the making of a true friendship. Danny Kidd saw a man in serious trouble while he was working on the chain gang at the Ponderosa and he automatically thrust himself into action to save him and said it was just for the horse. I didn't even believe that. When he asked for re-payment (in response to Joe) He asked to have the shackles removed from his body, he never dreamed that it would really happen. Imagine, you having to spend your entire life institutionalized since you were orphaned at 5 years old. Sent to prison at 13 because you defended the little food you received. Yet this 23 old man by the name of Danny Kidd was not an animal, just told he was one as often as they could to justify their cruelty. Little Joe saw the good human being in this man and was determined to stand by him. Thank God that young woman told the truth! there was an unspoken bond between Joe and Danny. As Ben put it at the end, "There go two wealthy men. Something that money can't buy... friendship." I found this story to be a beautiful one. True friendship and second chances in this life are rare.
