womens associations are advancing the traditional methods of shea butter production with the addition of several key machines. Pouring in shea nuts to be ground saves the hand pounding stage seen in previous videos. The volume of nuts able to be ground is much increased. Our planned Eco-processing centres will take this a stage further by creating a well planned work flow with key machines, clean and safe working environment and zero wood burning creating a Grade A zero carbon shea butter. Currently too many shea nuts are exported and not processed in-country, through the Serious Shea project, value is driven back down the chain to the women producers - sales of butter are far more profitable to the women than sales of shea nuts for processing out of country.
