During the reign of King Mahendra, "Land reformation act" was ratified. His, this step has been seen controversial and it brought tussle between whom he rewarded the land and from whom he snatched the land. It caused massive deforestation too.
Pahadi ( Hill side) people, who were brought to Terai ( Madhesh) began to suppress native dwellers.
Then, Nepali society witnessed many conspiracy against aboriginal people by Pahadis. Starting from creating rumors to subjugating those uneducated native son of soil, Pahadi community went to extreme level to snatch the land from them.
It created new group of haves and have nots. New group of rich and poor emerged and with them came stories of sorrows, grief and long lasting pain. Hatred towards certain community and stories of bitterness began.
Our this series is an answer why Santhal community vanished from their land-eastern Nepal. Why they flee to India in thousand of numbers, leaving their forefather's property behind, existence behind.
On top of that citizenship issued by Government of Nepal through "Citizenship camps" has become invalid now in Madhesh.
Many eligible youth are waiting to get their citizenship. It is quite a confusing scenario in Nepali Terai region.
Government's this act of not distributing citizenship to the people who have been living in Nepal since ages, who are native dwellers, and who are eligible to get it, have dragged Government in questionable situation. However, many uneducated, voiceless, meek Nepalese are living in frustration.
