One spring day, four lawyers embarked on a journey to the next town to attend court. The weather was gloomy, with rain pouring down and the ground becoming soft and muddy. As they rode their horse along the country road, water dripped from the trees and the grass was wet underfoot. Despite the rain, the lawyers were in good spirits, engaging in conversation, laughter, and camaraderie.
As they passed through a cluster of small trees, they heard a commotion above and a faint rustling in the grass beside the road. Curious, the first lawyer named Spade inquired about the source of the disturbance. The second lawyer, Hardin, explained that it was simply a robin and its young ones. The storm had dislodged two baby birds from their nest, rendering them unable to fly, and their mother was distressed.
Expressing pity for the stranded birds, the third lawyer lamented their impending fate. However, Hardin dismissed their plight, stating that they were merely birds and not worth bothering about.
